A memorial to Rifleman Khan has been erected on Strathaven Common Green, South Lanarkshire. The life-size bronze statue of Khan and L/Cpl Jimmy Muldoon was unveiled at a ceremony 0n 7 November 2021. The ceremony was attended by Lance Corporal Muldoon’s son, Jim, who unveiled the memorial. and by representatives of the armed forces, local dignitaries and residents.
Avondale councillor Margaret Cooper spearheaded the campaign to raise the £55,000 for the bronze cast monument.
The project was backed by the Cameronians Friends and Family Association and Strathaven Business Association.
